EC probe alleges ICI law break
Chemical and paints group ICI said has been issued with a statement of objections by the European Commission, alleging that it was involved in breaches of European competition law.
In July 2004, ICI received a request for information from the commission investigation into suspected cartel activity in the European methacrylates industry between 1995 and 2000.
The allegations concerning ICI itself relate to a period starting in 1995 and ending when it sold its Acrylics business in 1999.
"The next step is for ICI to study the statement of objections and supporting evidence before providing a written response to the commission," said ICI in a statement.
ICI said its policy is to conduct its business in full compliance with all applicable competition laws and said it would continue to assist the European Commission with its investigation. |

I presume the market likes their recent company results i.e. profits up 10%.
Also, I think its somethign to do with sector retotation i.e. industry is now in vogue, telecoms are out. |
