|
BAT interim results for the six months ended 30th June on Thursday. The highlights were:
Revenue - as reported £4,808m +9% - like-for-like £4,808m +10%Profit from operations - as reported £1,325m +6% - like-for-like £1,389m +15%Adjusted diluted earnings per share 49.11p +20%Interim dividend per share 15.7p +12%
The interim dividend of 15.7p will be paid on 13th September with the shares trading ex-dividend on 2nd August.

Now theres risk of a $200 billion class action suit by light cigarette smokers ! -
A class action lawsuit, accusing big tobacco companies of deliberately misleading smokers over low tar cigarettes, has been given the go-ahead in the United States.
A Federal judge gave the green light to to a lawsuit filed by "light" cigarette smokers who accused tobacco companies of fraud and are seeking damages of as much as $US200 billion.
The defendants include Philip Morris, RJ Reynolds and British American Tobacco. Shares of Altria dropped 6.4%, or $US5.26, to $US77.06 and Reynolds American Inc. fell 3.7% to $US59.75. |

'Adjusted diluted earnings per share increased by 13 per cent, which is a very good result, reflecting strong performances from both our subsidiaries and our associates. Although exchange gains are expected to deteriorate further in the fourth quarter, the growth in volume, revenue and profit for the nine months shows that British American Tobacco is on track for a good year.'
