Its that time of the year again.. okay soon
My forecast for 2006 is that it will rally early in the year maybe to 5850, then down into August to October to around 5400, then up into the end of the year to ? 5800 to 5900 so I guess it will gain about 5-6%
There is talk about rate cuts, but I can;t imagine these appearing until late in 2006 and probably being the trigger for the end of year surge.
The early year sell that I will be looking for i.e. the actual sell signal coming off the rally is for a a sustained fall through the 50 SMA on the FTSE, coming off a high MACD reading with negative divergence on the MACD histogram and similar sells on other indicies as confirmation, which initially would target a 100% move from the high to the 50 SMA break i.e. your half way to the next sell signal which would be a break of the t-line from the 2003 LOW, which has contained downtrends on 3 prior occasions (including oct 05) and implies that the fourth attack will break it, though offcourse it needs to occur for that second sell signal i.e. so no pre-emptive action. |

Okay my forecast is for the FTSe to finish the year at above 6000.
The trend will probably be rough as it will depend on oil price movements etc... |

I think the key for the ftse during 2006 will be GDP growth, unless it picls up from the pedestrian rate forecast, I can't see the FTSE it running ahead by much.
I think we will be lucky to see growth beyond 2%.
Still this does not mean that some sectors will vastly outperform the overall market ! |

Well up until this week it did look like hitting 6000 within a matter of week, now
It does appear to be weakening |

Forget interest rates ! If those terror attacks had happened it would have fallen a lot more than it did earlier today ! |

SO far so good , it 'should' and is rallying right into the eyar end without a drop in October !
Though statisically September is a bad month for stocks ! |

Sarah my forecast for year end is 6200 - 6400 for the ftse, into 2007 into 6500 when I shall probably sell Investments. I feel in 2007 that the ftse will drop to 4900, and war with Iran! |
