Hi
Going for a 3 week holiday to Florida this December and want to know which credit card is the best for dollar transactions i.e. gives good exchange rates.

The nationwide wins on USA front
Heres excerpts from their website about the card
Cash Reward Card pays you 1% money back on all your purchases in the first six months (0.5% after that).
Up to 56 days interest free credit
FREE purchase cover for loss, theft or damages to most purchases over £50
FREE extended warranty for a further 12 months on selected gas and electrical goods
No commission fees on purchases abroad!
You won't pay commission on any of your purchases, making the Nationwide credit card your perfect travelling companion. Other major lenders can charge up to 2.75% for credit card transactions made overseas. So every time you use your Nationwide credit card abroad, you save money!
No commission fees on cash withdrawals abroad!
You can withdraw cash abroad with your credit card in the same way as you can in UK, with access to over half a million cash machines world-wide. Other major lenders charge a cash advance fee of around 2% in addition to a commission charge of up to 2.75%. With a cash withdrawal fee of just 1.25% (minimum £1.25) and NO COMMISSION CHARGES, the Nationwide credit card is the obvious card to take on your travels. |

Other things to take into account is travel insurance, Amex’s three cards offer travel accident insurance ranging between £50,000 and £150,000 for its Blue, Gold and Platinum cards, but this applies only to scheduled airlines.
Though the Nationwide cards are still the best to use abroad, 0% charge loading as against others which can charge as much as 5% !!! |
