We are thinking of moving out of the area and since House prices are falling or starting to, my thinking is sell the house, put the money in the bank and use part of the interest to rent a house for 1-2 years whilst prices drop and then buy
So what do you think, good idea ? |

Obviously the risk is that house prices don't fall !
In which case you lose twice, i.e. money on rents and rising house prices |

| Actually Ruby would lose once, since the rents covered by interest |

My feeling is that hoping to buy back later at a lower price is taking a big gamble.
Since you need a house to live in, it may be better to ride out the house price fall (if any), then get stuck with being left behind if prices continue rising. |

Someone I know did this 2 years ago !
Well they wasted money on rent instead of buying their next property and have lost out big time ! Their original house has doubled in price, whilst the ones they were planning on buying have now totally gone out of their reach. |
