Seasonal check-ups can reduce the chance of a driver having to claim on their motor insurance, an expert has indicated.
Pat Goss, garage owner and co-host of American TV show MotorWeek, claims that maintaining a vehicle on a regular basis can help keep the car working well and avoid costly repair bills.
"It will save you money in both the short and long-term because you are improving your vehicle's trade-in value, getting the most out of its mileage and preventing costly repairs down the road," he said.
Mr Goss advised drivers to follow a number of steps during the autumn periods, such as getting the engine tuned-up early on in the season and having the brakes checked over, potentially cutting the chance of having to make a car insurance claim.
Later on in the season, the battery and filters will need checking, while tyre pressure should also be examined.
Auto Trader advises motorists to keep a log book detailing all their car's repairs and maintenance.
On average, drivers could save 16.4 per cent on their motor insurance with Kwik-Fit Insurance; research from last year has shown. |
