Some more info on the bond -
Abbey has launched a limited offer 2-Year Special Growth Bond which offers 5.50% gross pa/AER, the highest interest rate currently available on the market.
The Bond is available until 8 August 2006 or earlier if sold out.
Pak Chan, Abbey’s Head of Marketing for Long Term Savings, said, “We are continuously working towards maximising returns for savers and making sure that they are able to directly benefit from new market opportunities. The bond offers the best savings rate in the market and is just another example of how we are bringing better deals to our customers.”1
Key features of the Special Growth Bond are:
No minimum deposit requirement. Maximum deposit per bond is £250,000.
Interest is paid annually and rates are fixed until the bond matures at the end of two years.
The Special Growth Bond is on sale along with the standard range of bonds offering both income and investment options.
Customers cannot add to their bond once it is open.
Customers can get access to their money before the bond matures but they must give six working days written notice. Penalty charges will be applied for early withdrawal of money. |

I opened an account at a branch today.
Was straight forward took about 20 minutes, took a cheque and gave me a deposit slip, said that a certificate would follow in about 2 weeks.
Some points -
1. The bond is available until 8th of August or earlier
2. interest is paid on 1st of August each year
3. They will contact u 2 weeks before the bond matures |

I folllowed this site and opened one.
But the certificates not come yet !
Has this happened to anyone else ? Its nearly 3 months now ! I will have to op down to the branch to find out what up |

What happened ?
Did you go down to the branch, did they give you a certificate ? |
