There is an earlier thread about the National Savings 5.05% Direct ISA, which is probably one of the best deals at the moment. full specs are to be found there...

Portman building society has two new Isas: a regular saver account paying 8 per cent interest, and a 15-day notice product paying 5.3 per cent.

At the end of 12 months, money is automatically transferred to Portman's Easy Access Isa, paying 4.5 per cent. If you want to transfer out of this account, you face a £30 fee, which could wipe out all your interest earned.

Good point Fuzzy !

Always check the Terms and conditions, though the vast majority of cash isa providers do NOT charge a transfer out fee.

I applied to this ISA because of the favourable interest rate and the online access. I applied 3 weeks ago and today received the letter confirming that my account had been opened and they took the opening deposit of £2k.

I thoguht that if you applied online you selected your own password, but , when I had completed the transfer of an additional £1k to use up the full the SA, I phoned to for transaction. but my online password was wrong, so they are sending me a new one and i can't add to the isa until I recieve this !

Given todays base rate rise, it is likely the best rate todate of 5.05% is going to be beaten in the coming weeks, so best hold off opening a cash ISA for a couple of weeks as the market adjusts to the rates rise
